Kinder Morgan – St. Jo and HCP Compressor Stations
Reliable Controls performed a Process Safety Management Update for Kinder Morgan in Decatur and Columbus, Texas. Kinder Morgan owns and operates approximately 70,000 miles of pipelines and 180 terminals. Their pipelines transport natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, carbon dioxide and more. Kinder Morgan is the largest natural gas transporter and largest storage operator in North America.
The purpose of this project was to update our client’s documentation to meet PSM standards, resulting in a safer work environment. Reliable Controls spent five months working at the St. Jo and Houston Central Plant Compressor Stations completing tasks on three fronts:
Field Technical Assessment
Field verification of existing PSM drawings, to include Schematics and I/O drawings.
Red-lines of existing P&ID drawings.
Filled out field instrument and I/O Workpacks.
Photographed field conditions to develop a list of deficiencies and action items.
Documentation of all field red-lines.
AutoCad updates on all drawings.
Compilation of final documents and submittals.
Updated vendor documents to as-built status.
Development of Controls Narrative and Cause & Effect drawings for all process controls.
The PSM Documentation involved:
Single Line Drawings
As the project evolved, the project manager and team established teamwork, ownership, a positive attitude, and safety procedures to ensure the project’s success. Kinder Morgan was very pleased with RCC’s work and the professionalism that was shown from the team. Many thanks to Acacia Sam who led the team as Project Manager, as well as Hans Soderquist, Danny Simons, Brady Besco, Greg Tinder, Lexie Larsen and Garrett Burgin.
