Copper Mine – Arizona

Located about 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona, Reliable Controls Corporation had the opportunity to join forces a leading copper mining company to provide engineering support services. RCC provided instrumentation & controls engineering support for the open-pit copper mining complex. The mine was looking to increase their annual copper production while working to expand mining and milling capacity through exploratory drilling.

RCC provided the following services to help them reach their goals:
P&ID Review & Red-Lines.
HazOps review Approximately 20 week duration (May through August) to participate in the HazOps review as part of the commissioning and startup team.
Instrument Specification Development & Procurement – Assemble the site standard, create accurate site database of currently used instruments to include manufacturer and model numbers.
Reviewed EPRs and ensured compliance to FMI site requirements.
Reviewed instrument index and match to EPRs and P&IDs.
Reviewed instrument location plans to ensure compliance to vendor requirements & site needs (Access, Isolation, etc)
Reviewed Controls Narrative against P&IDs and PCD Documents.
Reviewed Cause & Effect schedules to meet both equipment and process permissive and interlocking compliant to P&IDs, HAZOPs and Site Operability Standards.
Helped prepare engineering deliverables and baseline for the commissioning and start-up phases.
