Barrick Gold – Pascua Lama Mine

Reliable Controls recently completed a project for Barrick Gold Corporation at their Pascua-Lama mine. Pascua-Lama is an open pit mine of gold and copper located in the Andes Mountains, which straddles the border between Chile and Argentina at an altitude of over 4,500 meters (14,700 feet).

Reliable Controls mobilized a team of five engineers and technicians from the United States, Chile, and Mexico on one week’s notice to provide engineering support to the Incinerator Auxiliary Systems Testing & Start-Up. Their directions were to get the incinerator that burns trash, diesel, and used oil up and running. During the time of contract work one of our team members was hospitalized for altitude sickness. After getting oxygenated and regaining his strength he rejoined the team and finished the project.

The Reliable Controls team completed the project on time and to the satisfaction of the client. A big “Thank You” and “Congratulations” go to the team for making this project such a success!
