Barrick Gold – Cortez Mine

Reliable Controls Corporation had the opportunity to work with Barricks Cortez mine which is located 100 kilometers southwest of Elko, Nevada in Lander County. Cortez is one of the worlds largest and lowest cost gold mines, with much exploration potential. RCC worked specifically on the Pipeline Deposit which is mined by conventional open-pit methods and recovers gold.

RCC performed a detailed instrument and control audit and assessment, delivering the following:

Red-lined P&IDs
Red-Lined Electrical Drawings (Motor Schematic, Wiring and I/O Drawings)
Control System Architecture Assessment
Existing Data Sheet Red-Line
Motor and Instrument Indexes
Instrument Field Status
Process Control Loop Status
Controls Narrative (Philosophy)
Sequence Control Flow Diagram
Action Items

RCC was able to improve the troubleshooting time due to updated documents, provide a detailed listing of the current status of the instrumentation devices and control loops, provide updated documentation and field status for optimization, instrument calibration, testing and re-commissioning activities, and improve the overall confidence of the engineering drawings. Great job, RCC team!
